Versatility and warmth in a small package
Our Volume 10 collection sees the introduction of the Mono Insulated Jacket in a men’s and women’s specific cut. Designed to keep you warm without feeling bulky or restrictive, this cycling jacket offers versatility for shoulder season and through to deep winter.
Whether you are going on those longer training rides or simply commuting, one of the key concerns when you want to keep riding throughout the colder months is how to stay warm and comfortable, without overheating. Talking it through with our product developer Sophie, she explains: “This layer is exactly what we wanted to offer within our range. It is warm yet breathable, quick-drying, soft to the touch with PrimaLoft® insulation and nicely draped with a cropped fit. We have made sure it is packable too, so that you can carry it in your bike bag for when the chill strikes or when you cool down at your mid-ride coffee stop.”
Making use of the same recycled nylon fabric as our Chroma Insulated Gilets, the fabric is finished with a vegetable-based PFC free C0 DWR coating and recycled zip tape. To make parts of the jacket wind resistant, the fabrics on the front body panel and the sleeves have been ever so slightly melted, or ciréd. Sophie elaborates: “We wanted to create a warm jacket that was more supple, more breathable and more sustainable than a softshell. As softshells are typically created with layers of fabrics and a membrane glued together into a sandwich, we find the glue between the layers blocks some of the breathability, making the fabric stiffer, while also making the fabric very hard to disassemble for recycling at the end of its useful life . The loose floating layers inside this jacket give a softer, more breathable, more sustainable offering.”
A true layering piece, we recommend pairing the jacket with a base layer to suit the conditions. The two-way recycled Vislon zip also makes it easy to regulate your temperature on the fly. And if it’s really grim, you could even add a gilet or a breathable rain jacket over the top, as this insulated jacket keeps you feeling warm and fresh underneath. Finished with iconic UC reflective logos and available in two colourways, namely Golden Beige and Black, this versatile jacket offers warmth in a small package.
